Dolonnuur monastery and relations between the Qing court, Inner Mongolia and Khalkha in 17th-19th centuries reflected by selected archive materials

This thesis deals with selected forms of the Manchu court influence on the relations of Khalkha and Inner Mongolia, eventually Northern China. It describes mainly the influences in the field of Buddhism (sir-a-yin šasin). It underlines the development of cultural-religious relations, phenomenon of pilgrimages, particularly the pilgrimages to Wutaishan, but the main topic is the role of Dolonnuur monastery and Dolonnuur municipality in the religious relations between Khalkha, Inner Mongolia and the Manchu court. Author points out, how the transitional period of these relations is reflected in the stories of Dolonnuur monks and in the increasing importance of Dolonnuur as a center of Chinese trade. This analysis is based on the local archive sources unpublished so far, especially the correspondence diaries of Dolonnuur monastery administrative bureau.

Liturgy and popular piety at Marian Shrine. Svatá Hora, Litmanová The presented thesis deals with the liturgy and popular piety, as it is realised at the Marian shrine. By mapping the liturgical life I am looking for answer, whether the relationship between liturgy and popular piety is beneficial and in line with the recommendations contained in the Directory on popular piety and the liturgy of the year 2007. About Marian veneration in the Church testifies a great number of Marian feasts that are celebrated during the liturgical year and the popularity of pilgrimages. The introduction discusses the general phenomenon of pilgrimage, spirituality and the importance of pilgrimages. It is mentioned the role of Mary and her special status in the history of salvation. I also deal with the liturgical life and the popular piety at the place of pilgrimage. There are presented two important shrines - Svatá Hora at Pribram of Latin rite and modern shrine in Slovakia at Litmanová of Byzantine rite with regard to their history and tradition. It covers the liturgical program, both on weekdays and in particular on major pilgrimage feast days in both places. A traveller during the Přemyslid dynasty

The thesis "A Traveller During the Přemyslid Dynasty" addresses the phenomenon of travel in the Middle Ages. A precise time frame is implied in the title with attention paid to the Přemyslid period and the narrative sources that describe it. The testimony provided by chronicles and legends is supplemented with knowledge from academic literature. The aim of this thesis is to present a comprehensive picture of life on the road and to address every circumstance that a traveller could encounter along his journeys. Starting with a description of the medieval landscape, which sets the basic conditions for any form of travel during this period. The thesis also focuses on the main reasons for travelling and the concept of travel in the medieval imagination, which then leads into the necessary preparations that had to be made before the beginning of each journey and the obstacles that had to be overcome along the way (most problems were faced when crossing a river or other bodies of water). Other chapters are dedicated to old roads and their legal status, orientation and to various forms of accommodation during longer journeys. Poverty in Theater

The submitted thesis Poverty in Theatre is a reflexion of motivation, consequences and importance of voluntary poverty-modesty in the context of contemporary theatre. The opening part of the text introduces the theme from general point of view in relation to the personality of Saint Francis from Assisi, who is not only the iconic figure of the medieval spirituality, but also becomes the source of inspiration for contemporary tendencies and movements and individuals dealing with poverty. The main part of the theses is focused on poverty in the field of art-primarily theatre. The last part describes the creation of the author's performance Pouť, that was inspired by the life of Saint Francis and by the pilgrimage through Italy, which preceded the whole project.
